BIO

The great country of Russia is famous for many things: a rich and proud history, vast natural resources, sporting excellence, and increasingly its poker players, who are fast becoming some of the globe’s best. Team PokerStars Pro player Alex Kravchenko fits that bill perfectly, taking the poker world by storm since he burst onto the scene.

A successful businessman and investor, the Russian pro began playing the casino game of Oasis Poker, before moving on to Blackjack and tournament poker. He then honed his skills in the card rooms of Moscow before taking his game to Western Europe, Las Vegas and beyond.

Kravchenko had a stunning World Series of Poker* in 2007, winning a gold bracelet, coming fourth in the Main Event, and cashing a total of six times in other events for total winnings of $2,156,576. Kravchenko followed up this Las Vegas hot streak with a final table appearance at the World Series of Poker Europe, this time a fifth place in the £2,500 H.O.R.S.E. tournament for £17,714 ($35,671).

There is no doubting that Kravchenko is master of all poker disciplines, and an analysis of his performance at the 2007 World Series bears that out. The Russian cashed in the following events: $1,500 Omaha Hi/Lo Split 8 or Better, $5,000 World Championship Pot Limit Hold'em, $2,000 Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo 8 or Better, $5,000 H.O.R.S.E, $1,000 S.H.O.E, and $10,000 World Championship No Limit Hold'em Main Event, a list that more than demonstrates Kravchenko’s all-court ability.

Appearances on the PokerStars European Poker Tour have also proved fruitful for Kravchenko, with two money finishes in Season 4, in Baden and Copenhagen for a total of $29,030. And if you then factor in big results at the World Poker Tour, and also success on home turf at the Moscow Millions, it’s not hard to see why Alex is currently the second highest Russian tournament money earner of all-time with $2,698,162.

Away from poker Alex enjoys spending time with his wife and children, fine dining, and playing sports. But above all he likes to travel, and poker affords him plentiful opportunities to indulge this passion. He is a member of Team PokerStars Pro and plays online using the screen name ‘Kravchenko’.
